Jonathan sacks sports minister

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has relieved the Minister of Sports, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, of his post with immediate effect to afford him the opportunity to focus fully on the pursuit of his declared political ambition. President Jonathan thanked Alhaji Suleiman for his services to the nation and wished him success in his future endeavours.The president took the decision based on the fact that the minister had declared his gubernatorial ambitions without formerly tendering his resignation from his prestigious position. He was appointed Nigerian Minister of Transport on April 6, 2010, when President Goodluck Jonathan, then in acting capacity, announced his new cabinet.
