THE executive board of the Nigerian Women League has faulted the recent appointment of Confederation of African Football (CAF) Media Committee member, Aisha Falode, as the co-ordinator of all the female national teams by the board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).Falode, who recently lost her petition against the women league board elections at the NFF instituted arbitration panel, was recently appointed as coordinator of the nation's female teams, an appointment that the board has protested.A source close to the chairman of the board, Dilichukwu Onyedimma, told The Guardian over the weekend that the women football board had officially protested to the secretariat of the NFF, noting that the appointment of the veteran sports journalist was done without consultation with the board. The source wondered how the NFF could announce the appointment of Falode, who, he claimed, has refused to recognize the Onyedimma-led board since she lost her petition, adding that the appointment also meant that the Federation had no regard for the board and the development of women league in the country.'It is surprising that the NFF made such appointment without making any effort to bring the two opposing sides in the women league to a peace meeting. The appointment does not mean well for the development of women football in the country.'I wonder how Onyedimma, who by virtue of being the chairman of women league, is the chairman of women football development at the NFF board, will work to achieve success with Aisha as the team's coordinator, when both have refused to agree or come together to pursue one common goal.'We have protested this appointment and have forwarded our protest to the office of the acting general secretary, Musa Amadu, for appropriate action to be taken if we want to move women football forward in the country.'No one is doubting her commitment to women football development, but the truth must be said that she has to recognize and congratulate the existing board if she wanted to join hands and move the game forward.
