Dufil wins, supports UNICEF soccer tourney

ASIDE emerging winner in the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)-organised football tournament, Dufil Prima Foods, manufacturers of Indomie Instant noodles, has lifted the world body with its products and cash donation.Goals from Kabiru Okanlawon and Victor Oluwole ensured that the Indomie Bombers overcame its MTN counterpart in the corporate firms event of the competition held at Astro Turf 2000 in Ikoyi.The Indomie team led by the company's Public Relations manager, Tope Ashiwaju to win the coveted trophy.The team won the 2010 edition and also retained the trophy while Opebi Primary School and Akande Dahunsi Memorial Senior High School emerged champions in the schools event.UNICEF Communication Specialist, Geoffrey Njoku, said the tournament was staged to raise funds for children living with HIV/AIDS.He lauded the corporate bodies, including Dufil, for their support in the last three years, saying other companies should key into the event to support the less privilege.Dufil's spokesman, Ashiwaju, described his firm's the gesture as part of the company's corporate social responsibility policy, with special attention to children.'We are only showing how responsible we are as a company and the partnership with UNCEF is also another way to raise awareness on the need to assist children infected with the dreaded diseases. We are happy to win the competition and we will not relent in our efforts to support Nigerian children,' he said.
