Better transport for better cities

THE International Association of Public Transport (UITP) and UN-HABITAT have joined hands to help improve urban mobility in cities around the world many of which are growing increasingly polluted by vehicle exchaust often because of poor public transport.At a meeting hosted by UITP 21-22 November, experts sought to provide guidance to UN-HABITAT on the agency's urban mobility policy, and also provide insights for the UN-HABITAT's 2013 Global Report on Human Settlements which will focus on urban mobility.The report is a flagship output of the agency published every two years to help governments, municipalities and urban planners in their decision making. The report is widely recognized and is translated into 6 languages. Sections of the report were reviewed by experts at the Brussels meeting.
