Religious tolerance tops NIREC's meeting

AS Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) meets in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital between December 6 and 7 this year, peaceful inter-religious relationship among followers of the two leading religions in the country - Christianity and Islam - may form the thrust of the parley.Besides, the body established by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo 12 years ago, may increase its members from 50 to 75 on each side, thereby making a total of 150 members.According to the Executive Secretary and Coordinator of the NIREC, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede in Ilorin during a press briefing over the weekend, the decision to make the meeting a quarterly one to be rotated across the country rather than concentrating it in Abuja was reached some four years ago by all the stakeholders.
