Published by Punch on Tue, 06 Dec 2011

As part of the international trade boosting efforts of the Federal Government, the Bank of Industry and the Nigerian Olympic Committee have partnered to showcase Nigerian entrepreneurs and products at the 2012 Olympics in London to boost trade. The Managing Director, BoI, Ms Evelyn Oputu, said at opening ceremony of the 5th Entrepreneurial Exhibition organised by the bank in Lagos on Monday that both the NOC and BoI were determined to showcase Nigerian businesses and products to the world at the London Olympics. She said that the partnership to this end was expected to create a platform to facilitate increased trade and build strategic alliances in the United Kingdom, Europe and the rest of the world. She added that the exhibition would feature Nigerian products and artists during the Olympic Games, saying it offered new opportunities to attract more investors.Oputu said the Olympics would give Nigeria the opportunity to project its 160 million strong population as one of the best investment destinations in the world. She described the banks pioneering partnership with NOC as one of its collaboration with many domestic and foreign development partners in the public and private sectors for a more effective and positive projection of Nigeria at the Olympic as the worlds most vibrant market.According to her, the partnership has three components that are being programmed for three locations already booked and secured in the UK.She stressed that one of the components will take place in Surrey, which is the second highest contributor to UK Treasury, after the city of London.
