NCS to boost competition in IT industry

The Nigeria Computer Society is organising the national Information Technology merit awards to encourage healthy competition and spur innovation and creativity in the nations IT industry.The Chairman, Publicity and Event Committee, NCS, Mr. Jide Awe, said in a statement on Monday that the awards were for role models who had contributed positively to the growth of IT in the country.He said the NCS aimed to encourage the growth and development of professionalism in the IT sector through the awards, while promoting the advancement of the industry.According to him, the NCS is a network of IT practitioners with membership strength of over 7,900.The society, he said, was in the best position to present awards in the field of IT in Nigeria.As part of the programme, Awe said, the Group Managing Director, Chams Plc, Sir Demola Aladekomo, would be inaugurated as the 11th National President of the NCS together with the national executive council.
