Heartland release 14 players

Heartland of Owerri have placed 14 of their players on the transfer market just as the team retained 22 players from the squad that won the 2011 Federation Cup.The clubs General Manager, Fan Ndubuoke, announced the decision of the club on Monday during a meeting with players, coaches and the management staff.Ndubuoke said the club would hire nine new players to strengthen the team in the coming season as they prepare to represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.He added that the 14 players released by the club included those whose productivity were considered below average by the coaches, those with disciplinary problems and those whose nature of last contract runs contrary to the guiding rules issued by the management.Ndubuoke wished the affected players success in their future endeavours while also tasking those that were retained to put in their best while in the service of the club.Meanwhile, the club management has fixed December 11 as the date for resumption of training for the new season both for the old and new players.Before Mondays meeting, Heartland players had been on break for two weeks while the coaches used the opportunity to try out new players.
