HID, a woman of substance - Bode George

Congratulatory messages onthe 96th birthday celebration of Yeye Oodua Chief (Mrs) HID Awolowo have continued to increase by the day as former national deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George on Monday joined other hundreds of Nigerians to rejoice with the nonagenarian on the occasion recently marked at the Ikenne, home of the Awolowos.The PDP chieftain, who stormed Ikenne in the early hours of the day, described Mrs Awolowo as a woman of substance whose personality also preached love.He then charged women in the country to emulate the lifestyle of Chief (Mrs) Awolowo and tap from her reservoir of knowledge in order to make the society virile and worth living.Chief George commended the efforts of the Yeye Oodua on the steps taken so far to unite the Yoruba and allow them to see reasons that the race is indispensable when it comes to decision making and policy formulation, pointing out that her contribution to the race will linger forever in the minds of the present generation and those yet unborn.Explaining why he was not present on the occasion of Mrs Awolowo's 96th birthday, Chief Bode George said he was away to Europe but maintained that his spirit was there throughout the celebration.Also in Ikenne to felicitate with Chief (Mrs) Awolowo were Captain Tunji Sele, former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Da-Silva, former senatorial candidate in Lagos Central, Tola Animashaun, Chief Adeniyi Oniyo and Prince Uthman Shodipe.While appreciating their visit, Mrs Awolowo expressed her appreciation and prayed to God to preserve their lives as well.
