Traditional ruler pleads for govt presence in Iwoye-Ketu

Published by Tribune on Tue, 06 Dec 2011

The Ooye of Iwoye ketu, Oba JoelAlaye, has pleaded for the presence of Ogun State government in the community in terms of infrastructural development. He said this during his first year coronation anniversary held at the Old Market Square, Iwoye-Ketu, a border town between the Republic of Benin and Nigeria, in Imeko Afon Local Government Area of the state.Oba Alaye stated that considering the proximity to the neighbouring country, the town lacked basic infrastructure such as good roads, primary health care centre, water, among others. The traditional ruler stated that lack of good roads had been the bane of economic growth in the area, stressing that farmers in the community found it difficult to transport their produce to major markets for commercial purpose to boost their living. He noted that the community needed a modern police station that would cater for any security challenge that might confront the community.Oba Alaye also appealed to telecommunication companies in the country to come and erect their masts in the area for effective communication. He said, 'I am appealing to the Ogun State government under the leadership of our amiable governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to come to our rescue at Iwoye-ketu, an agrarian community, in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the state, by providing us basic infrastructural development that would fast track development in this area.'We want to thank the Federal Government for awarding the construction of water dam project in the community. At the completion of this multi-million naira project, our community would be opened to other forms of development.
