Ogun NURTW seeks divine intervention over crisisMembers of theOgun StateCouncil of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), as a way of finding lasting solutions to the crisis rocking the council, have resorted to prayers.Last Thursday, the Interim Chairman of the Caretaker Committee put in place by the National Headquarters of the Union, Alhaji Akeem Adeosun, organised a prayer session for peace and progress of the union in the state.Speaking at the prayer session, Alhaji Iseek lawal (sugar), the Chief Imam of Bode-Olide Community in Abeokuta, advised the interim chairman to embrace love, peace, openness, generosity and shun thuggery.He advised that love would bring peace, stressing the importance of members to love one another. 'As leader, you must love everybody. You should not say somebody was not in my camp and discriminate against the person. As chairman, you are now father to all and you must treat everybody equally, irrespective of his faction. Don't discriminate against your members if you want peace'.Alhaji Lawal who quotes verses from the Holy Quran, also advised the committee chairman to generous to members. To be always be willing to help, take care of their welfare.Alhaji Lawal charged the members of the caretaker committee to do everything within their power to change the image of the union in the state. He explained that the perception of public about the union was negative due to the past events.He said the committee members should try as much as possible to embark on programmes that would change the perception of the people about the union.'You people should try and shun thuggery and other vices that could tarnish the image of the union. You should try and tolerate one another for the union to move forward in the state'.The prayer coordinator also charged members of the committee to work with the laid down procedure to have a rancor free administration.'There would not be any problem if members administer the council with fear of God and constitution of the union. There are rules and regulations that must be followed, everybody must know his or her roles. If that is done, there would not be any problem.'Also speaking, the Chairman of the caretaker committee, Alhaji Akeem Adeosun, told the gathering that he decided to organise the prayer session in order to handover the affairs of the council to God for direction. 'We need the favour of Allah in whatever we do. We cannot do anything except God intervenes, so the prayer is for God intervention in the affairs of the state council.Alhaji Adeosun also promised that he would direct the affairs of the union with fear of God and that nobody would be victimized. 'We are all one. What should be paramount now is how to bring peace and with the help of the National Headquarters.
