Saki indigenes seek govt intervention in fuel price hike

Residents in Saki in Oke Ogun areaof Oyo state have sent a save-our-soul to the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, over the fuel price hike in the community.When Community News got wind of the news, a call was put across to a resident of the town to ascertain the true situation of things.The young man who Community News spoke to did not want his name in print, said fuel was being sold for N70 per litre in the town as against the current price of N65 per litre, urging the state government to look into the matter and call all those filling station involved in sales of fuel in the town should rescind their decision.He made the federal government had not removed fuel subsidy and wondered why some people have already started increasing fuel price. 'We made several efforts to appeal to them to change their mind but it fell on deaf ears, he said. The same thing also applied at Oorelope Local Government where fuel is sold for N70 per litre.In a related development, commercial motorists plying Saki and its environment have called on the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Moses Onireti, to call his men attached to Saki Division, to order and stop harassing and extorting money from the motorists.
