Minister takes transformation campaign to Qatar

PETROLEUM Minister,Diezani Alison-Madueke was at the head oftheNigerian delegation to the 20thWorld Petroleum Congress (WPC) in Doha, Qatar, to showcase Nigeria's energy potential and the transformation drive inthe energy sector.The five-day congress, opened on Sunday with more than 5,000 delegates from across the globein attendance.The delegates,comprisingpolicy-makers, exhibitors, major oil companies and non-governmental groupswould deliberate onthe emerging challenges facing theenergy industry.Members of the Nigerian delegation in Doha haveexpressed optimism ona good outing for Nigeria, noting that the congress wouldhighlight the Federal Government's transformation agenda in the energy sector.Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of theNNPC, Dr Levi Ajuonuma said that the corporation had put in placethe necessary arrangement to ensure a good outing for Nigeria.He said the congress,now referred to as the ``Olympic Event of the Oil and Gas Industry,'' would avail Nigeria the opportunity to showcase its potential and attract foreign investors to the country.The NNPC spokesman urgedNigerian stakeholders participating at the event to put up a good show forthe country.NAN reports that the congress which is taking place at the Qatar National Convention Centre also involve a world petroleum exhibition, where oil producing nations and international oil companies will showcase their products and innovations.The''all-green'' Nigeria standwas a beehive of activities as exhibitors were seen making enquiries on how to invest in Nigeria.The WPC is held every three years and the 2011 edition has``Energy Solutions for All: Promoting Cooperation, Innovation and Investment' as its theme.The Head of Communications of theWPC, Mr. Ulrike Von Lonski, told NAN that the 2011 edition was expected to focus attention on finding ways to provide the global population with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
