Ota residents rejoice over proposed bridges

Published by Tribune on Tue, 03 Feb 2015

Residents of communities around Sango Ota, in Ado-Odo Ota Local Lovernment Area of Ogun State, have continued to revel over the proposed two bridges at the Sango Toll Gate and Oju Ore.The residents became ecstatic, when the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, announced to them that he would construct a bridge at the Old Toll Gate and another one in Oju Ore to ease the perennial traffic congestion in the area. They, however, appealed to the governor to make sure the promise comes to reality soon, noting that the bridges will not only ease transportation around the areas but showcase the development that Sango Ota had witnessed over the years.A resident, who simply identified himself as Emmanuel, commended the governor for the vision to build bridges in Oju Ore and Toll Gate, insisting that the bridges will go a long way in developing Ota.He said: 'I was there when the governor announced that he wanted to build bridges at Toll Gate and Oju Ore. This is a very laudable initiative. The governor should be commended for it.'I just pray it is not a political statement. But I believe the governor would do as he has said. He has constructed bridges in other places like Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode and now it is the turn of this area.Another resident, Oladele told Community News that 'I never imagined that Ota will be given two bridges by the government. The proposed bridges will do a lot of good to us. It is no doubt long overdue.'He continued: 'It will drastically reduce traffic congestion at Oju Ore and the Toll Gate and save lives. Many lives have been lost to frequent road crashes at the old Toll Gate.'The lawmaker representing Ota State constituency at the House of Assembly, Honourable Akinpelu Nurudeen Aina, also commended the governor for the proposed bridges while expressing the conviction that the governor would construct the bridges.' I am delighted that the governor has announced to the people of Ota that he would construct bridges at the Toll Gate and Oju Ore These are very strategic locations to the development of Ota and its environs,' the lawmaker said.Aina added that: ' I have no doubt that the governor will do it. He is a man of his words. Nobody forced him to say what he said. He has consytucted bridges in many towns in the state. This is not the first one. People should not entertain any fear about the construction of the bridges.
