Speaker tasks colleagues

The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji has urged his colleagues in the Assembly to continue to put the interest of Lagosians in mind as they discharge the job for which they are elected.He said they should focus on policies that would promote the socio-economic development of the people.Ikuforiji, while inaugurating the Standing Committees of the Assembly, observed that it would be to the benefit of the people if the members collectively put in their best and work with the executive arm of government.He said, This we must do without compromising the constitutionally reserved roles as the custodian of the peoples trust and mandate, representatives and the mouthpiece of the people."Ikuforiji explained that the House performed its function through the Committee system. He urged the 23 House committees to "ensure and encourage quick attention and prompt action."The committees include the Business Rules and Standing Orders; Ethics, Protocols and Privileges; House Services; Public Accounts (State); Public Accounts (Local); Agriculture and Co-operatives, and Chieftaincy Affairs and Boundary Adjustment and Local Government Administration among others.
