Don flays FG on nonchallant attitude

THE Provost, Academy of Natural Medicine, Professor Dayo Oyekole, has flayed the the federal, state and local governments of Nigeria on what what he termed their non-challant attitude towards natural medicine in the country.The provost expressed his dismay at 'the fact that the governments in Nigeria have not realised that there is glaring indication that no single system of medicine can provide all the answers to the numerous and psycho-social ailments that may befall mankind,'during the launch of his new book entitled The Principles and Practice of Natural Medine and merit awards ceremony, held at the Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, recently.Professor Oyekole added that despite the significant achievements and potential benefits of natural/holistic forms of medicine, it was still being relegated to the background by the health authorities.The professor, who attributed the problems facing natural health in the country to 'the absence of suitable curricula for didactic and pedagogic vocational training programmes' that could inject scientific rationale into natural healing practices,' said that 'against the background, unproductive waste of human and material resources,' was the focus of his latest book.The book, he added, was the outcome of '20 years of practical fieldwork and didactic studies on holistic medicine and esoteric healing arts conducted in Nigeria, England and South Africa.'Dr Olubunmi Omoseyindemi, who reviewed the book, recommended that every stakeholders in the health sector had a copy.
