Taraba police restrict operation of motorcyclists

The police inTaraba Statehave restricted the operations of motorcyclists from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.throughout the state.The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Ibiang Mbasieke, told the newsmen in Jalingo recently that the ban became necessary to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the people.He said that all stakeholders must work hard to ensure that the relative peace being enjoyed across the state was maintained at all costs.According to him, most cases of robbery and theft reported, especially within the state capital, were said to have been carried out by people riding on motorcycles.``The police can no longer fold their arms and watch innocent citizens suffer from the nefarious activities of the criminals in the guise of motorcycle operators,`` he said.It was also reported that a new system of robbery had been introduced in the state by some motorcyclists, who went out in the night to cash money from ATMs by robbing them of their withdrawals and other valuables.
