NPL board picks Abuja for congress

THE full congress and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria National League (NNL) board has been slated to hold in Abuja on January 16 and 17, 2012.Chairman of the board, Emeka Inyama, disclosed yesterday that the congress, which is expected to have in attendance representatives of all the 32 registered national league teams, would feature, among other things, seminars and draws for the new season, which has been slated to start on January 21.Inyama revealed that plans were in top gear to get renowned football experts to deliver papers that would refresh the minds of football managers at the congress, adding: 'If the current move to convince one of the states to host fails, it will also be used to conduct draws for the new season.'We have resolved to make the National League very attractive and competitive like the standard in European countries. To actualise this, we will organise a seminar where football experts and stakeholders will take the club managers on topics that would refresh their minds on football management and the current practices in the game.'The NNL board chairman also revealed that a team of inspectors were currently visiting some of the stadia the clubs had chosen for their home matches to determine their standards and readiness for the new season, adding that the results of the inspections would soon be ready.
