Contender or Pretender for Every Fringe MLB Playoff Team Entering 2015

Now that James Shields has finally decided where he'll be playing in 2015, we can more or less put a bow on the 2015 MLB offseason, a little more than a week from when pitchers and catchers will start reporting to spring training.With a clear idea of how all 30 rosters will now look for the upcoming season, we begin to get an idea of who the leading contenders are in each league and which teams are playing for 2016 and beyond.However, there are also a handful of middle-of-the-pack teams (12 by my count) that could go either way this coming year, as they appear to be on the fringe of contention at this point.What follows is a closer look at those 12 teams and my take on whether they will be contenders or pretenders in 2015.Note: Projected 25-man rosters have been included for each team.
