FG worried over N1.7t 2012 workers' salaries

THE Federal Government is worried over the N1.7 trillion salaries it will pay workers next year.The Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation, Dr Bright Okogu, disclosed this yesterday while speaking on 'Achieving Inclusive Growth through Pro-poor Spending' at the third Economic Policy and Fiscal Strategy seminar organised by the Centre for the study of Economies of Africa (CSEA) in Abuja.Okogu said that the ever-increasing wage bill was a source of concern to the government, noting that in the 2009 Budget, the total wage bill was about N870 billion but had now increased to N1.7 trillion in the 2012 Budget.
