Minister blames Nzeogwu's coup for North crises

Information Minister, Mr. Labaran Maku, yesterday in Kaduna blamed the current socio-economic crises in the North on the late Major Patrick Chukwuma Kaduna Nzoegwu-led January 15, 1966 military putsch, which claimed notable leaders such as the late Premier of the region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, as well as the Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa.The minister also said that the Federal Government had earmarked N450 billion to boost agriculture as a way of reducing the crises in the region which would create about five million jobs for restive youths. 'The Federal Government has set aside the sum of N450 billion to promote the development of agriculture, especially in the North as the area has been segmented to produce certain agricultural crops, not only for local consumption but also for export and we estimate that this will create about two million jobs for the North.
