LG poll: Ekiti community threatens politicians

Residents of Olurunsogo community, Ehin Ofin in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, have threatened to deal with any politician, who brings their campaign to their domain over what they described as neglect and insensitivity of the government to their plight.Some of the residents told our correspondent on Thursday that they had warned various political parties in the state not to bring their campaigns close to them.They said the area had been cut off completely from the rest of the state, adding that the only road which linked them with Ado-Ekiti was no longer motorable.They said the bridge linking the road was embarked upon by the people but the Ado-Ekiti Local Government Council, which collected taxes in the area, had refused to assist the community to complete it.They stated that the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, who was moved by the self-effort of the people, gave them N50,000 when they started the construction of the bridge.Our correspondent observed that the community is not connected to the National Grid, it has no water supply, no health centre and no school.
