Ekiti rerun: INEC promises credible poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it is ready to ensure that the rerun to fill the seat of Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II at the House of Representatives on Saturday (today) is free and fair.The Public Relations Officer of the commission in the state, Mr. Taiwo Gbadegesin, said this in an interview with our correspondent on Friday.The rerun will be conducted in Efon, Ijero and Ekiti-West local government areas, which make up the constituency.He said the commission had received all the materials needed for the rerun.He said, "We have received the materials from the INEC headquarters and we shall distribute them as soon as possible under heavy security watch and in the presence of all the representatives of the various political parties."We are not hiding anything and we are assuring that INEC will do its best to ensure that credible elections are conducted."The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Hussaini Pai, had earlier said that there would be restriction of movement during the poll.
