17th ACCW: First Deepwater Boss Rates Championship High

BABATUNDE Babablola, chairman of the host club of the final round of the 17th FIBA Africa Champions Club for Women, First Deepwater Basketball Club of Nigeria has rated the competition high.The oil and gas mogul said that the competition was a real test of Africa women basketball despite the low turn out of teams.Babalola said that despite the low turn out of teams, women basketball has a bright future in the continent. He, however, urge the continent ruling body FIBA Africa to put up an aggressive marketing team to help raise the standard further, assuring that his club was committed to the game.'I must commend the level of competitiveness seen so far and we are happy to be part of the show-piece brought to Nigeria by FIBA Africa through our club but I also want FIBA Africa to put in more effort for the competition to look more attractive to teams to look forward to each year.Meanwhile, co-sponsor of the championship, Honeywell Noodles has said that it was exciting being part of the event.Managing Director of the Superfine Foods, makers of Honeywell Noodles, Lanre Jaiyeola stated that his company's involvement with basketball has come to stay.Jaiyeola will also present towels and noodles to participating teams in today's third place and final games as part of their contribution to the success the competition.The noodles-man revealed that the two Nigeria representative in the final round, First Deepwater and First Bank have not disappointed so far, urging both teams to ensure that the trophy does not leave the shore of the country.Jaiyeola commended the management of First Deepwater for bringing the championship to Nigeria and pledge Honeywell continuous support to the game in the country.
