Wada, Kogi Gov-Elect, Gets Certificate Of Return

THE newly elected governor of Kogi State, Capt Ibrahim Idris Wada, yesterday collected his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with a pledge to continue to preserve the unity and uniqueness of the state and serve the people of state with diligence, irrespective of their political or other differences.Wada, who trounced 18 other candidates to emerge winner last Saturday, solicited the support, cooperation and understanding of the people of the state to make life more meaningful.The governor-elect was accompanied to INEC's offices by his running mate, Yomi Awoniyi; the out-going governor, Ibrahim Idris; and the state Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).Others on the entourage include Alhaji Hassan Salau; a one time Minister of State, Health, Gabriel Yakubu Aduku; erstwhile Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Salihu Ibrahim as well as the Director-General of Wada/Awoniyi Campaign Organization, Prince Sola Akanmode.Wada praised INEC for doing a good job and urged the people to continue to extend their cooperation with the incoming administration to move the state forward.Awoniyi and Akanmode also commended the electoral body for its perfomance in the state, saying the last election was the best that had been witnessed in years in the state.The National Commissioner in Charge of Kogi/Nasarawa/ Plateau States, Dr. Abdulkarim Oniyangi who presented the certificate of return, appealed to politicians to learn to play politics according to the rules, saying, if all stakeholders obeyed the rules, there would less room for rancour.
