Mimiko, PDP, ACN in battle of supremacy

Dr. Rahman Olusegun Mimiko, the Governor of Ondo State, came to power on the back of an Appeal Court verdict in Benin, the Edo State capital, which sacked Dr. Olusegun Agagu as the Governor of the state. Since then, Iroko, as Mimiko is fondly called by supporters, has been battling to ward off an angry Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, whose leaders would want him in their fold and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which is still licking its wounds. As the governorship election in the state draws nearer, the chess masters have gone back to the board, making deft moves to outwit one another. BABATOPE OKEOWO reports from Akure.Ahead of the 2013 governorship election in Ondo State, there are ongoing alignments and re-alignments in the political class, signifying the readiness of the major parties to occupy the Alagbaka Government House.
