Wavecrest organises culinary competition

A Lagos-based hospitality college, Wavecrest College of Hospitality Management, has organised a culinary competition for hospitality students in the nations polytechnics.A statement by the school said the contest was meant to create awareness and generate greater interests among young Nigerians for the hospitality industry.According to the statement, four institutions took part in the maiden contest. The Provost, Wavecrest College, Ms. Rosana Forsuelo, who declared the competition open, underscored the importance of the sector to economic growth and development. She encouraged the contestants to put in their best in future endeavours. The statement also quoted a senior lecturer at the college, Ms Lauretta Togonu-Bickersteth, as saying, "This event is aimed at promoting the hospitality and tourism career, improving the perception of the industry in Nigeria and to showcase the role of the service industry in the society at large." She added, "We hope to make this event an annual one to reach out and bring together stakeholders to contribute to training and the education of young Nigerians through this career." The contest was divided into five categories and saw winners from all the contesting schools.
