T'tennis: Karunwi Trust tourney set to serve off

The first Adeyemi Karunwi Trust Secondary Schools Table Tennis Championship is scheduled to hold from December 12 to 17 at the Mobolaji Johnson Complex, Rowe Park, Lagos, organisers have said.The championship will involve 24 public schools from six educational districts within Lagos State with winners in different categories receiving trophies and other incentives.According to a member of the Board of Trustees, Adeyemi Karunwi Trust, Mrs. Adebamike Oloko, the aim of the competition is to "foster the development and empowerment of our youths through the promotion of events of this nature in schools all over Lagos State." She added that winners would be groomed and trained by top table tennis coaches in the state.Lagos State Commissioner for Sports, Waheed Oshodi, said the event was open to public schools, adding that table tennis equipment would be given to participating schools.Oshodi said, "Our duty is to ensure that the equipment are put to good use. Also, senior players in the state will go round these schools to help groom the young players."
