Ekiti holds rerun polls amidst tight security

THE much-awaited rerun election into the Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II was held yesterday in a peaceful atmosphere but with a heavy presence of security personnel.The constituency, which comprises Aramoko, Efon and Ijero local government areas of the state, with about 33 wards and 115,876 voters, recorded a large turnout of voters.To douse the tension created by the two major political parties, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the days preceding the election, riot policemen were on hand in all the local governments making up the constituency. Men of the Nigerian Army were also posted to the roads that lead to the communities where the election was held.
