WWE Fastlane 2015: Booking Decisions That Must Be Made at PPV

Published by Bleacher Report on Fri, 13 Feb 2015

Few members of the WWE Universe know what to expect from the inaugural edition of the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view, but an interesting main event and the return of Sting guarantee major storyline development on the road to WrestleMania. The Fastlane card lacks the depth and interest Elimination Chamber always possessed in February, but wrestling fans will be treated to a main event that features Daniel Bryan squaring off against Roman Reigns for the right to advance to WrestleMania.Add Sting going face-to-face with Triple H and a battle between Rusev and John Cena for the United States Championship, and this PPV has the potential to be more than a forgettable holdover event. Here are the booking decisions that must be made at the 2015 edition of WWEs Fastlane.Booking Sting's AppearanceEven more than the main event between Reigns and Bryan, the booking for the eventual confrontation between Triple H and Sting must feature something that gets the fans excited for WrestleMania 31.Sting answered Triple Hs call on last weeks episode of Raw with an interesting video package and classic wrestling theatrics. At Fastlane, though, the toe-to-toe showdown between legends should feature nothing but two men standing in the ring.No videos. No lights going out. No body doubles. It should be Sting getting his entrance and marching down the ramp to confront Triple H. Instead of staying silent, The Vigilante should explain his actions and his distaste for Triple H.If we don't get a plethora of WCW and burial references, the WWE Universe will be disappointed. After Sting is finally allowed to speak, he must explain to the WWE Universe his reasoning for joining the company and the thought process behind attacking Triple H. After he is finished, The Authority should begin beating Sting down. With Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan all owing a debt of gratitude to Sting from Survivor Series and the go-home edition of Raw before the Royal Rumble, the three formerly fired Superstars should hit the ring and make the save. Not only would it set up the one-on-one match between Sting and Triple H at WrestleMania 31, but it would also set up a six-man tag match between Seth Rollins, Kane and Big Show against Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan.Brock Lesnar Chooses His VictimsOne of the most anticipated matches of the night is the battle between Reigns and Bryan for the No. 1 contendership. The winner of this match goes on to face Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 31.Instead of letting Reigns and Bryan decide their own fate, Lesnar should interfere.Lesnar is one of the most imposing figures in all of wrestling history, and he has a vested interest in this main event. Just like the UFC with its top fighters, WWE would be wise to use one of Lesnar's remaining dates to sit him front row during this match to scout his possible opponents.Other wrestlers might stand idly by as two men fight for the chance to step in the ring with them, but Lesnar and Paul Heyman are too smart to let this opportunity to make a statement go to waste. After watching Reigns and Bryan beat each other into submission, Lesnar should jump the guardrail and destroy both competitors. With The Beast and his championship standing tall over both men, it should be abundantly clear that both Reigns and Bryan will go on to the main event of WrestleMania. This three-way match fits right in with the report from F4WOnline, perWrestlingInc.com,that the WWE may be looking to enter WrestleMania 31 with a Triple Threat main event.Rusev Earns a Clean Victory Against John CenaA vocal minority of WWE fans believe Rusev doesn't deserve a huge push and is nothing more than a Russian sympathizer gimmick. At Fastlane, he has the chance to prove all the doubters wrong.Rusev is a talented in-ring worker and has elite agility, speed and athleticism for a man his size. Add the elite promo work of his manager, Lana, and the entire gimmick is garnering genuine reactions wherever the WWE goes.Cena is the face of the company. He doesnt often lose clean, but with the focus of this storyline on the 15-time world champion being past his prime, this is the chance the WWE needs to make a huge statement.Building Rusev strong moving forward is a must for a company that lacks top heels. A loss for Cena would not hurt him in the long run, and he could get the victory back at WrestleMania. On the other hand, a clean victory over Cena would validate Rusev as a cornerstone of the future. As hard as it is to imagine, Rusev must pin Cena clean at Fastlane. For more wrestling talk, listen toRing Rust Radiofor all of the hot topics or catch the latest episode in the player below (some language NSFW).Follow @Donald_WoodFollow @RingRustRadio
