Ajimobi cautions appointees against corruption

Published by Punch on Mon, 12 Dec 2011

The Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has urged all chairmen and members of the newly inaugurated boards of 16 parastatals in the state to shun corruption and all negative tendencies in the interest of the state.Ajimobi, during the inauguration of the members of the boards in Ibadan, on Friday, bemoaned the level of dilapidation of infrastructure which his administration inherited. He reminded them that they were appointed as strategic partners in his government's quest at restructuring and repositioning the state. He said, As you will soon discover when you assume duties at your various offices, the story of your boards is the story of the entire state that we inherited on May 29, 2011. That was why we chose men and women like you who will turn the boards around. We are sure that with the calibre of men and women that God has helped us to nominate on these boards, there will be a remarkable change in the story of the boards and our people in general. While congratulating the appointees, who, he said, came on board at a critical moment when the state required men of wisdom and uncommon understanding, the governor noted that their choices were in recognition of their past contributions to the state. He said, Our people expect that we will take Oyo State from its current level to its former position of first in economy, infrastructure and social services. This is why our task in the state is that of restoration. This is the same task you have at hand in your various boards. While we are poised to ensure this task of restoration, we enjoin you, as strategic partners, to ensure that you leave marks of substance in your different boards.
