Ogun, Lagos to inaugurate joint border tax panel

AS part of efforts to avoid boundary disputes that may arise from tax collection from residents of Ogun and Lagos state border areas, a joint committee, set up by the governments of the two states, will today be inaugurated in Lagos.The 14-member committee is expected to immediately begin sitting and also to embark on an extensive tour of the border towns.According to a statement signed by the Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Yusuf Olaniyan, the commencement of the work of the committee will be signalled by a symbolic visit to a few of the border areas by Governors Ibikunle Amosun and Babatunde Fashola.The committee that will be co-chaired by the deputy governors, Segun Adesegun (Ogun) and Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire (Lagos), will haveMrs. Kemi Adeosun, the Commissioner for Finance, Muyiwa Oladipo, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun,Others are Director General, Bureau of Lands, Mrs. Ronke Adeyokunnu; Surveyor General, Mr. Wale Ogunyomade; Special Adviser, Tax and Revenue Matters and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Femi Allen, representing the state Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), all from Ogun.
