Ondo CP praises DPO for returning N7.2m mistakenly posted into his salary account

More than three months after the former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Enuowa Divisional Police Station in Ondo town, Alhaji Oyibo Shuaibu Suleiman, a Superintendent of Police (SP) returned N7,237,999.89 which was wrongly posted into his August 2011 salary account at the Zenith Bank by an official of First Bank, Alagbaka branch in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr.Sani Magaji, has commended him for his honesty. It will be recalled that Oyibo, who has been transferred from Enuowa Police Division to Ile-Oluji Divisional Police Station in Ile-Oluji town, headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government in Ondo State, discovered the discrepancy through a message sent to him via an alert by Zenith Bank shortly after he (Oyibo) had gone to make some withdrawal from his current account at the bank.The police officer, who later spoke with the Nigerian Compass on the development, said he was very surprised when the account statement was sent to him as the amount he was expecting to have in his account was far less than the amount credited to him, stating further that as soon as he discovered the mistake made by the First Bank official, he immediately contacted Magaji to intimate him of the discovery after which the officials of the bank in Akure were informed of the discrepancy.
