NIMN commends FG on arrest of cyber criminals

Published by Punch on Tue, 13 Dec 2011

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria has commended the Federal Government for arresting cyber criminals in the country. The institute, in a statement on Monday, also congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan, for delivering on the transformation agenda. The statement noted the bold and decisive action by the office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation at the Federal High Court on November 21, 2011 against previously untouchable suspects. The institute gave kudos to Jonathan for showing that the government meant business. Unusual things are happening to uncommon crooks in an unprecedented way. This is transformation in practice, it said.According to the statement, the institute came under a savage and vicious attack in September 2010 from a gang of cybercriminals, who specialised in identity theft. The gang cloned the institutes website, hacked into NIMN bank accounts and unleashed a smear campaign on its leadership.Fortunately the institute survived the attacks and is waxing stronger today, it said. The institute said it was also dedicating the 2011 National Marketing Day to value creation in all ramifications. The day, the statement said, marked the climax of a talent spotting and identification process, which commenced several weeks ago in polytechnics and universities across the country. The talent hunt was aimed at spotting the winner and the runners-up in the Best Marketing Student contest sponsored by Unilever Plc.
