Save paper print in seconds with wireless printers

Published by Punch on Tue, 13 Dec 2011

Jayne Augoyehighlights the features of innovative wireless printers that conserve paper and print at jet speed.SINCE 1953 when the first high-speed printer was developed, the device has undergone so many changes. The early model was known as the wire matrix - a printer that represents each character as a pattern of dots. However, because of noise, print quality and decreasing cost of inkjet and laser printers, experts say, the tides began to change.By 1976, IBM introduced the Model 6640 continuous inkjet printer, which set the standards for print quality today. Canon and Hewlett-Packard followed with outstanding designs. Today, printers are also evolving in line with technological advancement. According to pcworld.com, the world now boasts 3-D printing where you can order some products and have them delivered on your printer.Among current innovations, Kodaks ESP 5210 Multifunction Inkjet Printer is one device that handles printing, scanning and copying tasks. This wireless printer enables the user to connect to the computer without troublesome wires or cables whilst its portability makes it fit into convenient spots in the home. With the device, it is also possible to print and scan important documents or photos and also make photocopies when needed. This printer also has a 30ppm printing speed that allows work to be done quickly and efficiently.Photographs can also be enhanced with the Kodak Perfect Touch technology, while browsing through them on the convenient LCD screen. At the same time, the images can be printed without having to connect to a computer.Yet another feature on the Kodak ESP 5210 Multifunction Inkjet Printer is that it can produce up to 99 copies of your favourite photos and allows you share them with your friends and family. The Little Printer, on the other hand, is solely a web-connected thermal printer. It works by simply configuring to a mobile phone, and for a couple of times a day, it prints out a long strip containing all of ones most recent updates. Thus it can copy and print headlines from ones favourite news sources, crossword puzzles, Twitter updates and even daily appointments, while rendering them in paper form. And as the world goes green, printer manufacturers are also keying into the campaign, with the Eco Printer which looks to extend the life of paper without the need for shredding and recycling. The makers say, typically, the printer paper can be shredded, re-composited and used five to seven times before it can be disposed of. For an indoor, office and repeatable use, the Eco Printer could help to greatly reduce the amount of paper waste.Other options include the Lexmark Interact S605 that prints from multiple computers over a wireless connection at speeds of up to 33 pages per minute. It also has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, memory card slot and Pictbridge that lets the user view and print photos straight from a digital cameras memory card.Epson Stylus Photo PX810FW is a 4-in-1high definition printer that prints, copies, faxes and scans. Its built-in Wi-fi enables wireless printing from any computer in the home or office, while the double-sided printing helps save paper.Another gadget in this regard is the HP Photosmart C4680, a 3-in-1 multi-tasking printer with printing, copying and scanning skills. It is said to print A4 colour prints in as little as 23-seconds and has a print quality of up to 48001200 dpi. Finally, with the HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer CD055B not only can one print, copy and scan, it can also view and edit photos without a PC - with the aid of a large touchscreen. Its wireless connectivity also lets one print from other devices, including iPhones while the two-sided printing also reduces paper wastage.Printer fact boxThereare basically two types of printer: inkjet and laser. However, when deciding which type of printer to buy, one should consider not only the price of the printer but also what to do with it and how much it will cost to run.- Many people or businesses use inkjet printers. These are good for general purposes. They are often very cheap and print in colour.- Generally speaking, inkjet printers are more versatile and offer better high quality colour prints.- If you print many photographs you may want to consider buying a photo printer which will be more expensive than the cheapest inkjet printers but will give better quality prints. It is also possible to buy an all-in-one printer which can be used to scan, copy and fax documents, thus giving you even more versatility- Laser printers are be more expensive but basic mono ones are very cheap now and have certain advantages over inkjet printers in that they generally print more quickly while text prints are usually of a higher quality than inkjet printers. Colour laser printers are expensive but they are great for heavy workloads.-Toner cartridges are considerably more expensive to buy than inkjets but you will get several thousand prints from them compared to only a few hundred from the inkjets. However, one way of saving costs on both types of printer is to use compatible cartridges which are usually a fraction of the cost and just as good. Finally, it is worth considering where you are going to sit the printer. Colour laser printers tend to be much larger than mono laser or inkjet printers.Basically there is no one answer as to which type of printer is best. What you have to do is decide how much you are prepared to spend, what you are going to use it for and where you are going to put it.Source: streetdirectory.com
