I never gambled on Yakubu - Kean

BLACKBURN Rovers coach, Steve Kean has stated that the taking of Nigerian international striker, Yakubu Ayegbeni to Ewood Park was not a gamble after all.But the club has hit jackpot with the former Everton striker's goal spree.Yakubu's four-goal blast that sinked Swansea last weekend took his goal haul to nine from just eight Premier League starts since his 1.5million switch in August.Yet Everton chief David Moyes was so frustrated with the former Middlesbrough star, that he had to packed him off to Leicester on loan for the second half of last season.The striker managed just one goal before the turn of the year, adding fuel to the stories that Moyes is not the most dedicated of trainers and tends to carry too much weight.But Kean said;''I had no doubts about signing him because when you look at his record he has scored roughly a goal every two starts at every club he's been at --- Portsmouth, Middlesborough and Everton.''He has been punching above that here, which is great news for us.''I always felt he would do well for us,'' Kean said.
