Insecurity: Ambassador nominee warns against porous border

NIGERIA'SFORMER ambassador to Libya, Senator Lawal Guba, has warned the Federal Government against leaving the nation's borders porous to avoid the free flow of Libyan arms into the country.Guba, who made this known when he appeared before the Senator Matthew Ifeanyi Nwagwu- led Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, during screening of ambassadorial nominees, said, 'we have to be very careful in leaving our borders porous though, we do not share the same border with Libya but, we have to be cautious to block all situations whereby arms would find their way to Niger Republic and since that country shares border with Nigeria, it is possible for these arms to enter Nigeria.'He explained that Libyan youths received some form of training on how to handle firearms from secondary school and with the crisis in that country, arms were freely distributed to them pointing out that with no proper government in place in Libya, the arms were on the loose and might find their way to other African countries.
