Ekiti workers to get minimum wage arrears, others

FOR Ekiti State workers, cheery news came from the Head of Service, Mr. Olubunmi Famosaya, that the governor has approved the payment of N18,000 minimum wage to workers from grade levels 01 to 06. He said the arrears from August this year will be paid before the Christmas.But workers from level 7 would still wait before enjoying the largesse because the government is waiting for the decision of other states within the South-West as it concerns the adjustment of wages of senior workers.Famosaya, who disclosed this at the weekend during the flag-off of the Civil Service Week in the state, added that the government had approved 20 per cent of workers' salaries as their Christmas bonus and reiterated Governor Kayode Fayemi's pledge that salaries will be paid before December 18.
