MINISTER of Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga, has expressed the Federal Government's interest in investing in the tourism sector in Benue State.Aganga disclosed this at the weekend in Makurdi during a dinner organised in his honour by the Benue State government.He noted that the state was endowed with enormous tourism and culture potential, which if properly harnessed, would turn the state into a world tourist centre.He said the Federal Government would explore the opportunity through partnership with the state government, promising that accessibility studies would soon be carried out for that purpose.The minister, who later at a thanksgiving service and reception at Gbagimba to mark the golden jubilee celebration of his colleague, Samuel Ortom, praised Ortom, describing him as an astute grassroots politician, farmer, businessman, philanthropist and a team player that was most loved by his colleagues and people.In a remark, Governor Gabriel Suswam restated the desire of his administration to tap the tourism potential of the state and called for collaboration from the Federal Government.Suswam, later at the thanksgiving and reception for Ortom, pledged that despite the many acts of provocation, he would not be distracted from fulfilling his social contract to the people of the state.He urged Benue politicians to put aside their differences and work together as a team so as to place the state in its rightful position in the scheme of things.The governor, who advised the Minda people of the state to be grateful to God for producing a minister since the creation of Benue State, further urged them to keep faith with the PDP-led government in the country.Suswam further promised to complete the road leading to Gbagimba, the local council headquarters, provide potable water in addition to electricity.
