Children to win N1.25m in musical fiesta

To promote musical and graphics ingenuity among children and youths from all churches, a group, Musical Youths Fiesta 2011, has set aside mouth-watering prizes for would-be winners in a competition.At a press conference in Lagos on Monday, Senator Remi Tinubu said the winning song would attract N1m prize.Tinubu, who also said the winning logo would attract a prize of N250,000, assured the contestants that the winners would be announced at a venue where the children would also fellowship with one another.She said the event was put together with the hope that it would promote tolerance, appreciation of good music and expression of their God-given talent.She said the initiative, which was put together by patrons and matrons of the fiesta, was aimed at identifying talent in the area of music and graphic designs.Tinubu said the future of any nation would be determined by the quality of its children and youths, stressing that for any nation to aspire for greatness and relevance in comity of nations, the youth must be motivated.She said, Such a nation must nurture her children and youths by imbibing the right values in them.MYF is for all children and youths from all churches to come together and display their God-given talent in the area of music and graphic designs.It is a youths-driven and youth-oriented programme where they will have the opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated by others.Tinubu said her experience at a church event about four months ago, had touched her heart.I was reminded of the music of the 70s when things were working and were orderly. Thereafter, a discussion started between me and some associates on the need to re-enact this period and give our children hope in the midst of all the confusion around us now, she said.The Senator hoped the competition would leave a lasting impression in the minds of the children to aspire for the best in life.She said the children were from different backgrounds, adding that some of them had never been inside a hotel with beautiful ambience.She said in the past eight weeks, she and her associates had been receiving entries from the children and youths between ages seven and 21 for the theme song and logo.She added that since then, a team of experts in music had been listening and comparing all the entries.
