Schalke wants Chinedu Obasi

NIGERIAN international, Chinedu Obasi may be on his way out of German side Hoffenheim following reports that the striker is being targeted by another German club, Schalke 04.Although the former Flying Eagles forward has a contract running till 2014 with Hoffenheim, a move out of the club is likely for the Nigerian who is wanted by Schalke as a replacement for Peru's Jefferson Farfan who suffered a serious knee injury last month.Farfan suffered a knee injury in November playing for Peru against Ecuador and is expected to be out until at least January.Obasi, 25, lost his first team shirt after series of injuries this season and is no longer a first choice at Hoffenheim having lost his place to ex-Liverpool striker Ryan Babbel who has played all in all 16 league matches so far."I like Hoffenheim, they allowed me to progress, but I think it is time to change," an excited Obasi told Bild over the move which is estimated to be worth around seven million euros.With the transfer window set to open in January, Schalke have also expressed interest in signing German striker Lukas Podolski from Cologne, where he is under contract until 2013.Schalke, the German Cup holders are currently third in the German league and are in the Round of 16 in the Europa League.
