Ali, Amike reveal his last moment

Published by Tribune on Wed, 14 Dec 2011

OLYMPIANS Yusuf Ali and Prince Henry Amike have described the demise of Sunday Bada who died on Monday evening in Lagos, as tragic just as they recalled the last moments of the serving Police officer."We were together at the National Stadium till some minutes past 8pm when he told us that he would be going to the airport to pick up his wife. Later, I received a telephone call from Gabriel Okon that Bada was dead. I then called some of our friends to know more and one of them was already at the mortuary with the corpse, quite pathetic."We were talking about the JK Randle Olympic dinner together at the stadium," said Ali, a former African champion. In the words of Amike, who is the President of the Nigerian Olympians Association, he was yet to believe the story."The news of Bada's death remains the greatest shock of my life. I mean, it's unbelievable. We were together at the stadium last (Monday) night. I was waiting for my guest who is coming for the Olympic dinner scheduled to hold today (Tuesday). I got a telephone call that Bada was already in the morgue".Amike stated that "Bada never complained of ill-health when we were together at the stadium. He was okay. He even took drinks to relax and we were discussing generally. We talked about the National Sports Festival which Lagos will host next year and the programme we are planning in conjunction with UNICEF."We agreed on the buses to convey the participants to the venue, we agreed on the format of the programme and things like that," he added.
