FG tasks stakeholders on mass failure in WAEC, NECO

THE Federal Government, on Tues day, asked stakeholders in the education sector to come up with a practical solution to the problem of mass failure of candidates in public examinations in the country.The Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa'i, gave the charge in Abuja while declaring open a two-day Examination Summit and Stakeholders' Consultative Meeting on Improving Performance in Public Examinations organised by her ministry.She lamented the dismal performance of candidates in public examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO), saying that only 30 per cent of students scored five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, which had been the admission requirement by tertiary institutions in the last six years.
