Protest rocks Owerri over doctor's death

SCORES of protesters from Ohii community, near Owerri, Imo State, yesterday disrupted economic and social activities in Owerri over the death of their son and erstwhile Director of General Hospital, Owerri, Dr. Moses Amakor.Amakor, who was kidnapped on December 2 by unknown gunmen around Ohii, was shot in the leg by the bandits before they whisked him away.They released him last Sunday evening and he was immediately taken to a hospital in Owerri for treatment but died shortly after arriving there.Wearing black attires, the protesters carried various placards with the inscriptions: 'Who killed Dr. Moses Amakor'', 'What did Amakor do to deserve death', 'Government must fish out the killers of Amakor'.They marched through Okigwe, Bank and Onitsha Roads to Government House gate, but security men refused them entry for several hours. Vehicular and human activities were disrupted during the period.
