Bada's death too bad for Nigerian sports -NOC

Published by Tribune on Thu, 15 Dec 2011

THE Executive members of Nigeria Olympic, NOC, are yet to come to terms with the death of foremost Nigerian quartermiler, Sunday Bada and described it as 'too bad for Nigerian sports especially with the fast-approaching London 2012 Olympics.President Sani Ndanusa and Scribe Honourable Tunde Popoola were hard-hit with the sad news that Popoola asked over and over again to cross-check the facts. 'You are talking of death and talking of Sunday Bada. Please, tell me it's a joke', Popoola who has developed a Siamese relationship with the Technical Director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, said. 'No, how can Bada die' How can he die'', Popoola asked.Engineer Sani Ndanusa who is in London in connection with administrative duties for the London Olympics said that the death of Bada was a bad one for Nigerian sports. 'How cruel! He is one of the most hard-working, dynamic young man who not only toiled for Nigerian sports but has been in the vanguard of taking Nigerian sports to the zenith. He is a leading light in athletics and a paragon even in the Nigerian Police Force. Death has indeed robbed us of man who has worked assiduously for the Olympics', Ndanusa said.Honourable Popoola regretted that death did not allow Bada to even receive the gold medal he won at the Sydney Olympics but charged Team Nigeria to go all out to win medals for the sake of Bada who wanted Team Nigeria haul medals at the Olympics. 'Its a painful one for the Olympic family but I urge all Nigerian athletes to soar to win medals for the sake of a young man who died working for Nigeria', Popoola charged.
