Iseyin people oppose plans to upgrade Ibadan Poly

The people ofIseyin in OyoState have opposed the proposed upgrading of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, to a state university by the state government.A prominent leader of the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the area, Alhaja Ramota Balogun, in a statement, noted that the recent submission of the panel assigned to look into the condition of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, that the school be upgraded to the status of state university was detrimental to the people of Iseyin.Alhaja Balogun, who described the panel's report as 'an Ibadan document', said the reason the panel put forward on availability of facilities at the polytechnic was not enough to make them arrive at such a resolution.She claimed that Iseyin had all it takes to host the main campus of the state university.Also speaking, the chairman, Iseyin Development Union (I.D.U), Mr Gbolabo Ogundiran, said the final pronouncement by the governor would make Iseyin people to decide on their line of action before the next general election, the same way they were unanimous at the last election. While reacting to the issue, he implored the governor not to dissapoint the people of Iseyin, as they would not take anything less than a state university.
