NPUGA:WDU B'ball team disqualified

THE entire male basketball team of Western Delta University, Oghara team was yesterday disqualified from taking part at the fourth Nigerian Private University Games Association (NPUGA) hosted by the university.The school's football team also refused to present itself for proper screening after winning its two previous matches against Benson Idahosa University, (BIU), Benin-City and Bells University of Technology, Otta.Chairman, accreditation committee, NPUGA, Akinola Akintunde and the chairman Local Organising Committee, Dr. Malomo Dosu confirmed that 'mercenaries' were nabbed in Oghara yesterday, adding that the organisers would tender an apology to other well-meaning teams.Akinola who also is the Director of sports at Achievers University, Owo stated that WDU's football team has been suspended for their refusal to appear the accreditation committee summon after receiving protest against them.Meanwhile, in the football event matches decided yesterday, Wesley University of Technology, Ondo, (WUSTO) lost by a lone goal to Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin while WDU beat Bells University by the same margin.
