Bada: 15-man burial committee sets-up

A 15-man committee has been set up for the burial of the late Nigerian quarter miler, Sunday Bada.The burial committee headed by President of the Nigerian Olympians Association, Prince Henry Amike, has among others, representatives of the Bada family, the Nigeria Police Force, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).Bada's home state, Kogi and Lagos where he spent almost all his adult years are to be represented by a member each.Rising from an emergency meeting called by Friends of the late Bada at the Police College in Ikeja, Lagos yesterday, Prince Amike, a national 400m hurdles record holder who was a close confidant of the late Police superintendent, was unanimously selected to lead the burial committee while THISDAY newspaper Ag. Group Sports Editor, Duro Ikhazuagbe was picked as secretary.Other persons on the burial committee include; AFN Scribe, Maria Wophil, First Nigeria Olympic gold medalist, CSP Chioma Ajunwa, SP Christopher Majuk while Emmanuel Oladimeji and Adebayo Bada are representing the Bada family.Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Tunde Popoola is also on the committee along with former Team Nigeria Captain, Yusuf Alli.Foremost Nigerian track and field writer, Oludare Esan and former Lagos SWAN Chairman, Frank Ilaboya are also listed on the committee. Femi Ajao of the National Sports Commission is representing Friends of Bada.Meanwhile, members of the committee are to meet at the Nigerian Olympian Association office at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
