Group promises to promote Urhobo's interest in Delta

NATIONAL Chairman of the Urhobo Political Congress (UPC), Chief Ighoyota Amori, has said the group is out to promote and protect Urhobo political interest with a view to strengthening the unity of the people.Amori, who stated this shortly after a close door meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC of the group, held at his Mosogar country home, congratulated the Union for the successful celebration of its 80th Anniversary and Urhobo National Day celebration, held recently at the new Urhobo Cultural Centre, Uvwiamuge-Agbarho.Continuing, he said he was impressed with the way the present leadership of UPU led by Gen. Patrick Aziza (rtd) was carrying on with the affairs of the Urhobo people.He said; 'the UPC wants to formally congratulate the UPU and our admirable UPU President, General Patrick Aziza for a successful outing on their cultural day and the way he has conducted the affairs of the Urhobo people.'We want to say that we wish him and his executives well and that with what we saw in the conduct of the cultural day, there's no doubt that the UPU is prepared to work with our state governor to push the State forward.'And we want to support our amiable Governor on his plea for forgiveness from the Urhobo people and the call for unity amongst the Urhobo nation.'Amori said the essence of the meeting was to 'reappraise the work done so far by the different committees set up after the inauguration of the UPC exco.
