Emenike promises excitement, glamour at 2011 Nanka League

SPONSOR of the annual Nanka League, Polycarp Emenike, has promised a glamorous 2011 edition of the championship, which begins in the town on December 22.Emenike, who is the managing director of Neros Pharmaceuticals, has been sponsoring the league for over three decades with fans, who troop to the Township Stadium to watch the games going home with different types of drugs.Last year, he donated N4,000,000 for the organisation of the competition and has promised a bigger event this year. The competition features players from Nanka resident in different parts of the country, who form teams according to the cities they live in.According to Super Eagles' former curator, John Obijiaku, who is the local organising committee's spokesman, the various teams involved in the competition have started intense preparation for what promises an entertaining championship, which was won last year by Port Harcourt team through penalty shootout.The teams include Lagos, Onitsha, Benin, Ota, Aba and defending champion, Port Harcourt, among others. Meanwhile, the President General, Nanka Patriotic Union, Demian Okoye, has promised a hitch-free championship, assuring that adequate security arrangement has been made to ensure a peaceful competition.
